Zarathustra is also the title of the German band's first and only album. Founded in Hamburg in 1969 by Ernst Herzner (voc), Wolfgang Reimer (g, voc), Michael Just (b, voc), Klaus Werner (org) and Wolfgang Behrmann (dr, perc). As the band was a well known live band in the Hamburg region, they got a record deal with Metronome. They recorded their energetic heavy progressive rock in the Windrose Studios in November 1971.
This power-rock album, heavily inspired by English bands such as Deep Purple and above all Uriah Heep, was released in 1972. Unfortunately, as is so often the case, it was not promoted sufficiently or at all, so it sank completely unnoticed at the time. The band broke up shortly after. Now it is an extremely sought-after heavy krautrock album.
