After two psychedelic rock albums as „The Web“, fronted by black American singer John L. Watson, they changed into a more serious jazz rock and progressive rock direction with the new front man Dave Lawson. He wrote all the material for this album and his vocals and keyboard work strengthened the already existing jazz elements in the band, turning it into one of the finest examples of early British jazz rock.
Released by Polydor in 1970, I Spider is without a doubt a really high quality jazzy progressive rock LP and a sought-after classic of the prog era.
