Warpig was a four-piece progressive hard rock band from Woodstock near Toronto/Canada with Rick Donmoyer (g, voc), Dana Snitch (keyb, voc), Terry Brett (b) and Terry Hook (dr). After years of practices and local gigs they got a record contract with independent label FontHill Records in late 1970. After writing material while on the road, their eponymous debut was finally released in the beginning of 1972. It is considered as one of the earliest heavy metal albums from the New World. Sadly it didn't get released outside of Canada, so it wasn't a success at all. Nevertheless the group carried on touring.
Meanwhile FontHill was bought out by London Records in ’73 and they reissued and remastered the album with a different cover. Unfortunately, a second album was never realised and the band split. What remains is another hidden gem of guitar-orientated hard rock from the early 70s, a great album, very rare as a Fonthill first press and really expensive.
