Formed in St. Albans in 1962 by Rod Argent (org, p, mellotron, voc) and Colin Blunstone (voc), along with Paul Atkinson (g, voc), Chris White (b, voc) and Hugh Grundy (dr, voc). The band with the bizarre name was in the style of the times for a British Invasion band. They were signed with Decca after winning a beat-group competition. She’s Not There was their first hit song in 1964 which reached number 12 in the UK charts and became even no. 2 in the US. That timeless debut hit is included on their first album along with a few self-penned songs plus a selection of R&B covers, mainly composed of Blues, Pop and Rhythm & Blues.
A great, early British Invasion LP that anticipated the future psychedelic pop trend before anything else. And which they helped to shape in a decisive way years later with their second magnificent LP Odessey and Oracle.
