Seelow & Mayer Formation was a short-lived band founded in 1969 by saxophonist Dieter Seelow (as, ss) and Peter Mayer (p) in 1969, together with internationally renowned bassist Wolfgang Schmid and Hans Haug on drums. The quartet recorded their first and only album in June 1970 at the legendary Horst Jankowski Studio in Stuttgart-Feuerbach. It was released in the same year on producer Dieter Kruis' own small label dk-disc in a limited edition. In addition to the typical psych and krautrock elements of the late 60s and early 70s, it imaginatively combines soul jazz, jazz funk, hard bop as well as Eastern elements and Latin American music. An exciting musical mixture with many musical twists and turns and sonic surprises that was far ahead of its time.
Due to a lack of marketing and promotion work, Mr Dynamite went completely unnoticed at the time and became a coveted collector's item. Especially in rare groove circles, astronomical prices are paid today for the super rare original LP.
