The four-piece London band Patto produced an astonishing mix of catchy rock riffs, unusual time signature changes, incredible guitar solos, ass-kicking vocals, jazz workouts and humor. For one reason or another, however, it never earned them the recognition many feel they deserved. This is not only true for their eponymous debut, but also for their second LP Hold Your Fire, recorded and released at the end of the year 1971. It is centred around the rough vocals of Mike Patto together with the virtuoso guitarist Ollie Halsall. However, they were subsequently dropped by Vertigo and released a third album for the Island label in 1972. Despite their continued successful gigs, they finally gave up a year later.
Their extraordinary talent and humour were also visualised in the unique design of the cover: Original UK Vertigo copies with one of the greatest cover art work ever!
