Nick Drake recorded his third and last album Pink Moon completely on his own in 1972. He took away the orchestra and wanted other musicians to stay away. Shy and withdrawn as he was, he began to retreat dramatically within himself. Out of this isolation and depression came this melancholic LP with his greatest and final work. Despite his brilliant guitar playing and beautiful, melancholy, compelling songs it also sold poorly, like the two predecessors.
His tragic death happened just a couple of years after this release at his parents home in the country side south of Birmingham.
