Early and rare German underground from 1970, self-produced and released by the tiny independent label CPM. Founded in Herford in 1968, Missus Beastly started as a quartet with Reinhard „Atzen“ Wehmeyer (voc, g), Wolfgang Nickel (keyb), Petja Hofman (b) and Lutz Oldemeier (dr). Their live events were not concerts with a fixed structure and song sequence, they simply played what came into their minds. Mostly it ended in a two- to three-hour happening which caused the band's special reputation and success.
The tracks for their debut album came about just as randomly as they did live on stage. The majority of the album does not represent the music that the band was actually famous for in their live performances. With support from four musicians from another Krautrock bands like Amon Düül II, Embryo, Xhol Caravan and Popol Vuh they played a mixture of different styles of music based on the blues, sometimes psychedelically coloured, sometimes influenced by jazz and with some strange additions.
The reissue published in 1970 as „Nara Asst Incense" with the same songs, but in a different order and with a different cover design, was published by a certain Henry C. From without the band's knowledge. Original first pressings in fragile, thin paper gatefold covers are mega rare and therefore fetch astronomical prices.
