The friends Clem Alford (sitar), Jim Moyes (g) and Keshav Sathe (perc) played together as a trio named Sagram. To fulfil an offered recording contract from Mushroom Records they looked for a singer. Together with Alisha Sufit and now named as Magic Carpet they recorded one self-titled album in 1972 which presents psych influenced Eastern-style instrumentals with extensive sitar and acoustic guitar, as well as female vocals. It was one of the first authentic fusion of Western and Eastern music. Due to lack of success, they split soon after.
Released in an edition of only thousand copies, this extraordinary album is now a world-wide sought after artefact of early UK Eastern vibe acid folk.
