1968, in the heydays of swinging London the five-piece act July from Ealing, London played an underground psych pop/rock with vocal phasing effects, trippy instrumentation and extensive use of fuzz guitar. The band consisted of Tony Duhig (g), John Field (fl, keyb), Chris Jackson (dr), Alan James (b) and Tom Newman (voc). They recorded only one album for the Major Minor label in 1968 which is considered as a masterpiece of British psychedelic rock. It was initially released in 6 countries worldwide and was nevertheless a commercial failure. The short-lived group disbanded just one year later in 1969.
Recorded only in mono and released in a spectacular album artwork the sole July album is one of the best and sought-after UK psychedelia albums ever!
