Danish power trio formed Copenhagen in the late 60s. In 1968 they spent some time in London because their former UK bass player Mac MacLeod was deported from Denmark. After meeting Donovan (hence their name Hurdy Gurdy), they recorded several songs. Only two of them appeared on a single. Back in Denmark Claus Bøhling (voc, g, sitar, harp), Jens Marqvard Otzen (dr) and the new bassist Torben Forne recorded their eponymous album for CBS in 1971 (released 1972). Dominated by a strong lead guitar, they played blues and jazz influenced heavy progressive rock. One track is a raga rock tune with tablas and sitar.
It is one of the top 10 Danish rock albums, which is very rare and especially as an original UK pressing, it fetches high prices in collector circles.
