More than twenty years before Black Sabbath's masterpiece Heaven & Hell, there was already another Heaven & Hell in England, released in 1969 by the psychedelic hard rock band Harsh Reality on the multinational label Philips. Their only album, housed in an obscure cover featuring blood and horror, is one of the most lost classic underground albums and is now very rare and highly prized today.
The band was founded by Alan Greed (voc, org, p), Mark Griffiths (g, tp, voc), Dave Jenkins (g, harm, voc), Steve Miller (b) and Roger Swallow (dr) in Stevenage, Hertfordshire in 1968. They played a heavy, organ-based progressive rock with hints of acid folk, soul and experimental, with which they were ahead of their time. That might have been the reason why the record didn't get any attention, despite the controversial cover design with blood and horror. The band broke up in the same year. Never re-released on vinyl UK originals are impossible to find nowadays.
