Gleemen were founded around 1965 in Genoa by guitarist Pier Nicolò „Bambi“ Fossati, Maurizio Cassinelli (dr) and Angelo Traverso (b). Together with Lio Marchi (org, p) they recorded their eponymous album, which was released by Compagnia Generale del Disco (CGD) record label in 1970. Led by Fossati, the „Italian Hendrix“, they played a powerful psychedelic hard rock with strong 60s influences and occasional progressive elements.
The album, however, sold poorly and is now a huge rarity. One year later the same line-up changed name to Garybaldi.
