The second and final LP Heavy Petting from the Irish psychedelic folkies Dr. Strangely Strange was again produced by Joe Boyd and released on the legendary Vertigo label in the summer of 1970. It presented surreal lyrics in a more progressive style with ragtime, country, acoustic traditional and medieval mix featuring fine, fluid blues-rock guitar solos from a 17 years old Gary Moore!
Despite the fantastic Roger Dean gimmicks sleeve with a photo of the band hiding behind a shrubbery bush and flaps the record didn’t sell and they were soon dropped from the label. Now notoriously hard to find in anything approaching Mint vinyl condition in an undamaged delicate sleeve it is one of the most sought-after Vertigo albums.
