Caravan emerged from the Wilde Flowers, whereas other members went on to form Soft Machine. They released their eponymously-titled first album by Verve Forecast in 1969. With Pye Hastings' creative and extremely catchy song-writing and the band's all-round superb musicianship they created jazzy psychedelia and mid-1960s pop in melodic pre-Canterbury style organ sounds.
Along with Piper at the Gates of Dawn, S.F. Sorrow and Mr. Fantasy it is a landmark LP and among the best British psychedelia albums of the era. Original UK mono copies are really scarce nowadays.
